My name is Matt. I'm a tester.
I'm a software tester who's just as comfortable writing code as testing it.
With 15+ years' experience testing web applications across a wide range of technology stacks and industries, I help teams build quality in from the start — implementing testing at every level to deliver reliable products and strong user experiences, not just catching bugs at the end. I've built particular depth in API testing, payments systems, and observability tooling, areas where correctness and reliability really matter.
My toolkit includes TypeScript, Java, JavaScript, Python, and Kotlin, with test automation built on Playwright and Selenium. I'm equally comfortable working across AWS and GCP, including CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure testing, and having worked across Linux and Windows environments, I move fluidly between the command line and the desktop, adapting quickly to new stacks and tools.
I've worked with teams at every stage of agile maturity, from established agile squads to teams in transition, and I'm comfortable helping shape process as well as product.
I'm ISTQB-certified, a Certified ScrumMaster, and hold an MSc — the result of consistent self-study to stay current as the discipline evolves.

As part of this qualification, I was required to undertake a year-long research project and produce a dissertation. My dissertation concerned the application of risk-based testing concept to acceptance testing in agile projects.
As part of my studies towards an MSc, I was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Software Development by the Open University.
Whilst working at Pole Star, I achieved the foundation level ISTQB Software Testing certificate.
Dual honours bachelor's degree in French and Politics from Keele University in Staffordshire.
